  • Bloathi Linux is a serious variation on Bodhi Linux with a humorous descriptive name. It is NOT a fork, spin-off, break-away or anything of the like, from Bodhi Linux. It is merely an larger alternative installation medium for Bodhi goodness. Bodhi is a lean distro (<420MB ISO currently) that is not intended to provide a full suite of applications - that is left to the user to select after installation. 'Bloathi' offers the user a greater selection of applications in one download - the current version 1.4.0 ISO is 1.6GB. This is invaluable when preparing a USB stick or DVD for live use - or for multiple installations. The Bodhi philosophy continues to be lean and light; Bloathi is more of the same in one package and a list of Bloathi additions is shown on the forum at:- http://forums.bodhilinux.com/index.php?/topic/4748-bloathi-linux-140/ We really like both Bodhi and Bloathi, it depends on what the task is. For a new customised installation that most exactly suits the user, Bodhi is ideal - plus a serious application download session using either Synaptic, Aptitude, apt-get or the Bodhi web Appcentre at:- http://appcenter.bodhilinux.com/ This is probably best when HDD space is restricted, and for the experienced user who knows exactly what is needed. For a live DVD or USB stick, Bloathi comes with a much fuller and richer set of apps that are likely to please most users. If you have other preferences, the forum page linked above invites suggestions. If one is installing Bodhi for users new to Linux, the application set is a good one to get most of them started - so Bloathi can save you a lot of time hand-crafting a number of installations all the same. Bloathi is ideal for this. Both are excellent stable lightweight distributions in that they use less RAM than (eg) Xubuntu on our systems and yet have advanced desktop features. Ben
